Camellia Seed Oil (Refined)
Refined camellia seed oil is usually light yellow to pale golden with a light, non-greasy texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. The refining process results in a very mild or nearly neutral scent.
Camellia seed oil is rich in oleic acid, giving it excellent moisturising properties.
The typical fatty acid profile includes:
• Oleic Acid (Omega-9): ~75-85%
• Linoleic Acid (Omega-6): ~7-12%
• Palmitic Acid: ~5-10%
• Stearic Acid: ~2-4%
The high oleic acid content provides excellent emollient properties, making it ideal for dry and mature skin.
Camellia seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Camellia oleifera or Camellia sinensis plants, commonly known for producing tea. The seeds are harvested from the camellia plant after the flowering period when the seed pods mature and are cold-pressed to extract the oil, preserving its beneficial properties. The oil undergoes refining processes, including neutralisation, and deodorisation, to produce a clear, odourless oil suitable for cosmetic use.
Ideal for moisturising dry and sensitive skin, thanks to its high oleic acid content Camellia seed oil is non comedogenic meaning that it doesn’t clog pores. Can be used to nourish and soften hair, leaving it smooth and shiny and hydrate the scalp. Its light texture and non-greasy feel make it an effective natural makeup remover that also hydrates the skin. Camellia seed oil is valued for its lightweight texture and deep moisturising properties, making it a versatile ingredient in skincare, haircare, and cosmetic formulations.
