Tussah Silk fibre

Natural Tussah Silk fibre, suitable for use in soap recipes.

Tussah silk, also known as wild silk, is valued in cold process soap making for its unique properties that enhance the soap's texture, feel, and performance.  Adding Tussah silk to soap increases the lather's creaminess, giving it a luxurious, silky feel whilst creating a smooth, soft sensation and enhancing glide in use. Silk contains natural proteins, particularly sericin, which can help in moisture retention and contribute to the skin feeling more hydrated and soft after use.

In cold process soap making, Tussah silk is usually added by dissolving a small amount in the lye water to ensure it fully integrates into the soap without clumping.
