INCI: Citrullus Lanatus Seed Oil

Watermelon Seed Oil (Refined)
Refined watermelon seed oil is typically pale yellow to almost colourless. It has a light, non-greasy texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. The refining process results in a very mild, neutral scent, making it suitable for various cosmetic and skincare products.
Watermelon seed oil, also known as Kalahari oil, is rich in essential fatty acids and other beneficial nutrients.

The typical fatty acid profile includes:
•    Linoleic Acid (Omega-6): ~60-70%
•    Oleic Acid (Omega-9): ~15-25%
•    Palmitic Acid: ~10-15%
•    Stearic Acid: ~1-5%
The high linoleic acid content makes it particularly suitable for balancing and hydrating the skin.

Watermelon seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the watermelon (Citrullus lanatus). The seeds are collected from the watermelon fruit, often after the pulp has been used for juice or consumption. The seeds are cold-pressed to extract the oil, preserving its natural nutrients. The oil is then refined to remove impurities, resulting in a lighter colour and neutral scent, while retaining its beneficial properties.

Watermelon seed oil is an excellent moisturiser, particularly for oily and acne-prone skin, as it hydrates without clogging pores. The high linoleic acid makes it ideal for combination skin types. The oil contains antioxidants, including vitamin E, which lends it perfectly to mature skin care ranges. Its light texture and non-comedogenic properties make it suitable for use in facial oils, serums, and lightweight moisturisers. Watermelon seed oil can be used to nourish the scalp, reducing dryness and adding moisture and shine to hair, making it smooth and manageable without weighing it down. The oil works well for cuticles oil formulations. Due to its light texture, watermelon seed oil is often used in massage oils, providing a non-greasy glide and leaving the skin soft and supple.
